High School Friend

Ryan and Emma and I feel so blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives, one very special person is our dear friend Stephanie. I’ve known her since 6th grade, and she has been a part of some of the most special days of my life!

Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family. Proverbs 18:24

We were ecstatic to share a couple days with Stephanie…and hoped we could convince her to move out here! First, we decided to take her on one of our favorite hikes (the High Line Canal Trail), then we introduced her to some of the famous Pho Ryan and I LOVE!!!! Our favorite Pho location is the Pho 95 at the South Glenn Shopping Center, their egg rolls and beef noodle bowl are delish! After that filling meal we went home for some down time before celebrating my brother’s 20th birthday.

That evening the majestic sunset lit the sky enough to feel like we were one step closer to heaven. There is no way to describe the beauty that is a Colorado summer sunset. As my brother Felipe, his girlfriend Alysia and son Leon headed over, Stephanie and I got to chat and laugh about old memories. We had an awesome dinner that led to an even better round of Wheel of Fortune and Mario Cart Marathon! We laughed, we smiled, we screamed at the tv but most of all we enjoyed the sweet company of family ( which of course includes our sweet Stephanie).

The next morning Stephanie surprised us by bringing some mouth watering chocolate filled croissants from a local French bakery Pierre Michel Bakery! If you want authentic French goodies baked fresh, daily by a delightful store manager, then this is the place for you!

Soon after we decided to go on another adventurous hike! This time we started behind the Aspen Grove shopping center and jumped onto the Mary Carter Greenway Trail. This is now one of our favorite hikes. The views were beautiful and the hike itself was very calm and perfect for stroller pushing! I think this was a great hike to entice friends to move to Colorado…YES Stephanie…that means YOU! Anyhow, we stopped to get some yummy smoothies at a cafe located off the trail and then took a little detour into the Hudson Gardens, y’all I didn’t know they had a free admission area accessible from the walkway. What a FANTASTIC surprise! We had a blast! I can’t wait to go back in the Spring when the flowers are blooming.

IMG_6150Of course we needed a close up of this angel! She did such a great job, this is one of the few times Emma used a pacifier. She usually spits them out!

Now on the last day Stephanie was with us we decided to do some more outdoor shenanigans. We wanted to try something NEW…SO…we went PADDLE BOARDING! This has been on my bucket list since I was in high school. I was so excited we found a location right down the street. We decided to go visit Colorado Standup Paddle located at Soda Lake off E-470 . They had really reasonably priced rental rates of $20-1 hour $30-2 hours. The views were spectacular but most importantly the memories were priceless. We had a blast! We wished we’d had pictures of us in the water… but did not want to take the risk of losing our phones in the lake. Thank goodness we didn’t bring them…graceful Stephanie was a natural she was meant to paddle board through life….now Ryan and I…lets just say it was ridiculous I fell in the water about 3 times and was able to stand for a total of 1-2mins MAX…Ryan didn’t fall in…but wasn’t able to stand…so between the two of us we stopped trying after about 30 mins and grabbed a canoe to finish our time slot. I will forever cherish the memories we made that day!

The last picture was taken right before Stephanie left. I am so thankful to God that he’s blessed my life with this amazing lady. Stephanie is the kindest, most energetic, talented and GORGEOUS friend. So happy she was able to come visit and meet my sweet Emma Marie. Auntie Stephanie is in our hearts daily and we are lucky to know her! We can’t wait for her to finally realize she NEEDS TO MOVE TO COLORADO!
